My name is John and I am the photographer and blogger behind “Plain Vision Photography.” I started in photography at the age of 8. It happened in the usual way. First it was a Kodak 127 camera, the gateway “drug.” It snowballed from there. Before I knew it I was mowing lawns on weekends to buy and supply my Petri viewfinder camera I bought used.
I spent 20 years in the Air Force serving in Thailand, England, Germany and the U.S. I gained experience in aviation and travel photography. Upon retirement I went to Napa Valley College to get my AA in Photographic Technology. I also served as the photo editor of the school paper and gained photojournalism experience. (To round out my education I went on the graduate from UC Davis with a double major of History and Native American Studies.)
Today I enjoy photography as much as the first day I took my first picture. There is always something new to learn. That is the lure of photography.
